2009 Catalog

2009 Catalog is a series of unsolicited covers inspired by the publisher's pocketbook collection. LP&M .

Years ago, leafing through some copies of José, the famous bookseller who stands on Rua Lapa and parks his cart with more than 1 thousand titles on various subjects, from detective novels to encyclopedias, old magazines, some esoteric, manuals of all kinds and sells for honest prices on the sidewalk. Turn and move, I find something good in sight and whenever possible I check it out and on that day I found a special book -
LP&M POCKET CATÁLOGO 2009 - with information about many other books.

It was the title catalog of the largest collection of paperback books in Brazil, a commercial book to facilitate distribution and present the titles. I remember I bought it straight away, I loved flipping through the brochure and reading the synopsis of each book. In 2009, the LP&M publisher had 800 books in the catalog being presented with the following information:
Number, Title of Work, Author, Translation, Year and Page Quantity.

After days reading the titles, I had the idea of creating a graphic experimentation exercise with the help of the catalogue; the idea was to draw or randomly choose a number between 1 and 800, then choose the book with the corresponding number to develop a cover and back cover in a pocket format. I remember that I had this idea back in 2018, I even commented with some friends, I created about three covers, but it didn't go forward like other good ideas.

Packing my small collection of important books that I loved and love so much, I found again the special book -
LP&M POCKET CATÁLOGO 2009 - and reactivated the commitment to work on this series of covers,
Besides  it's great to meet new books, it's an excellent exercise creating images that still relate  with unsolicited design concept.
